The Prophet (saw)'s Life

Ibn Mas’ud رضي الله عنه related that the Prophet صلي الله عليه و سلم said:

“My life is a great good for you, you will relate about me and it will be related to you. And my passing from this life is a great good for you; your actions will be presented to me, and if I see in them good, I will praise Allah, and if I see evil, I will ask forgiveness of Him on your behalf.”

Narrated by ibn Mas’ud by al-Bazzar in his Musnad (1:397) with a sound chain as stated by al-Suyuti. Shaykh AbdAllah al-Talidi said in his Tahdhib al-Khasa’is al-Kubra, that this chain is sound according to Muslim’s criterion.

Reliance on Allah

‘Umar bin Al-Khattab رضي الله عنه nattared: I heard Allah’s Messenger صلي الله عليه و سلم saying:

“If you all relied on Allah with due reliance, He would certainly give you provision as He gives it to birds who issue forth hungry in the morning and return with full belly at dusk.”

The Last Prophet صلي الله عليه و سلم

"My position in relation to the prophets who came before me can be explained by the following example:
A man erected a building and adorned this edifice with great beauty, but he left an empty niche, in the corner where just one brick was missing. People looked around the building and marvelled at its beauty, but wondered why a brick was missing from that niche? I am like unto that one missing brick and I am the last in the line of the Prophets."

Paradise as a reward

Abu Huraira رضي الله عنه narrated that Allah's Apostle صلي الله عليه و سلم said,

"Allah says, 'I have nothing to give but Paradise as a reward to my believer slave, who, if I cause his dear friend (or relative) to die, remains patient (and hopes for Allah's Reward)"

A Strong Believer

Narrated Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه Allah’s Messenger صلي الله عليه و سلم said,

“A strong believer is better and dearer to Allah than a weak one in all good things. Adhere to that which is most beneficial for you. Keep beseeching Allah for help and do not refrain from it. If you are afflicted in any way, do not say: ‘If I had taken this or that step, it would have resulted into such and such,’ but say only: ‘Allah so determined and did as He willed.’ The word ‘if’ opens the gates of satanic conduct.”

The upper (giving) hand

Narrated Hakim bin Hizam:

I asked the Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) (for some money) and he gave me, and then again I asked him and he gave me, and then again I asked him and he gave me and he then said,

"This wealth is (like) green and sweet (fruit), and whoever takes it without greed, Allah will bless it for him, but whoever takes it with greed, Allah will not bless it for him, and he will be like the one who eats but is never satisfied. And the upper (giving) hand is better than the lower (taking) hand.

Disputing with others

A'isha reported Allah's Messenger (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) as saying:

The most despicable amongst persons in the eye of Allah is one who tries to fall into dispute with others (for nothing but only to display his knowledge and power of argumentation).

Recording of your deeds

Narrated Abu Huraira that Allah's Messenger (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said,

Allah says: Whenever My slave intends to do a bad deed, (I say to the deeds recording angels): Do not record it against him until he (actually) commits it. If he has done so, write it down exactly as one in his record book. But if he refrains from it for My sake, write down this as a virtue in his favor. And when he intends to do a good deed, but does not actually do it, write it as a virtue for him. And if he puts it into practice, write its reward equal to, from ten to seven hundred times (in his account).
