Islam is Built Upon Five

On the authority of Abdullah ibn Umar ibn Al-Khattab (رضي الله عنه ) who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (صلي الله عليه و سلم) say:

Islam has been built on five [pillars]: testifying that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, performing the prayers, paying the Zakah, making the pilgrimage to the House, and fasting in Ramadan

O Allah! Assist me in Remembering You!

اللَّهُمَّ أَعِنِّيْ عَلَى ذِكْرِكَ وَشُكْرِكَ وَحُسْنِ عِبَادَتِكَ

Allahumma a’inni ‘ala dhikrika wa shukrika wa husni ‘ibadatika

O Allah! Assist me in remembering You, in thanking You, and in worshipping You in the best of manners.

Happiness

On the authority of Fadalah bin Ubaid Al-Ansari (رضي الله عنه ), the Prophet (صلي الله عليه و سلم ) said:

"Happiness is due to him who is guided to Islam and possesses provision that suffices him for his day and remains content.”

A Good Friend

On the authority of Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (رضي الله عنه ), the Prophet (صلي الله عليه و سلم ) said:

A good friend and a bad friend are like a perfume-seller and a blacksmith: The perfume-seller might give you some perfume as a gift, or you might buy some from him, or at least you might smell its fragrance. As for the blacksmith, he might singe your clothes, and at the very least you will breathe in the fumes of the furnace.

The Prophet (saw)'s Life

Ibn Mas’ud رضي الله عنه related that the Prophet صلي الله عليه و سلم said:

“My life is a great good for you, you will relate about me and it will be related to you. And my passing from this life is a great good for you; your actions will be presented to me, and if I see in them good, I will praise Allah, and if I see evil, I will ask forgiveness of Him on your behalf.”

Narrated by ibn Mas’ud by al-Bazzar in his Musnad (1:397) with a sound chain as stated by al-Suyuti. Shaykh AbdAllah al-Talidi said in his Tahdhib al-Khasa’is al-Kubra, that this chain is sound according to Muslim’s criterion.

Reliance on Allah

‘Umar bin Al-Khattab رضي الله عنه nattared: I heard Allah’s Messenger صلي الله عليه و سلم saying:

“If you all relied on Allah with due reliance, He would certainly give you provision as He gives it to birds who issue forth hungry in the morning and return with full belly at dusk.”

The Last Prophet صلي الله عليه و سلم

"My position in relation to the prophets who came before me can be explained by the following example:
A man erected a building and adorned this edifice with great beauty, but he left an empty niche, in the corner where just one brick was missing. People looked around the building and marvelled at its beauty, but wondered why a brick was missing from that niche? I am like unto that one missing brick and I am the last in the line of the Prophets."

Paradise as a reward

Abu Huraira رضي الله عنه narrated that Allah's Apostle صلي الله عليه و سلم said,

"Allah says, 'I have nothing to give but Paradise as a reward to my believer slave, who, if I cause his dear friend (or relative) to die, remains patient (and hopes for Allah's Reward)"

[sahih al-Bukhari, vol 8, Book 76, #432]
